    Camp Canon (day 1)

    So, the big switcheroo. I got the rebel with grip and could only get one lens for now, but S**t happens and I'll get more soon. Charged the battery last night and took it out today to see what it felt like. Probably should have read the manual a little anyway, it's layout is way different from Minolta. Enough rambling, here's some from today...

    C&C are fine, my monitor is not calibrated and this setup is new to me, so bring it!

    Got to go with #1 it's top drawer. Any new equipment takes a little getting use to, but to change system completely would really boggle me. Just take a while to get things dialed in to your liking. Keep the images coming.
    Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Nice shots. I like the blown highlights on the frog profile shot, it gives me the impression that he's sunbathing. First shot is a winner all around too.

    The canon bokeh is really nice, i've noticed that for a while in canon shooter posts. I'm sure you'll get it all figured out soon.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone. I printed the frog on the leaf today, guess my monitor isn't bad as I thought.

    Copy, yes! Didn't you know it's the equipment. Now if I could just get a 1D, I'd be shooting for SI and NG. The more it costs and the more megapixels, the better it MUST be!

    There's so much to knowing your gear and all it's limitations, I never realized that until now. It was always just natural to "see" a scene as the camera did. Now, I gotta start over...

    Loupey, I am in love! The AF is so much faster it's unreal, and I don't have an L lens yet although I played with one in the shop...WOW! The handling of the lenses are incredible compared to Sony/KM, they just feel like they are serious. Exposure is a little different, but I really want to start shooting manual full-time, so no biggie just gotta learn the basics of the camera first. The switch feels good, I have honestly lost opportunities because of lack of lenses available with Sony/KM. Now if the paper needs me, I got their lenses available or can go to any decent city and rent what is needed. In addition, the availabilty of the battery grip is very nice. It helps balance the camera some with the bigger lenses and is much easier to shoot verticals.

    Enough rambling for now. Hopefully I'll get some time in soon and learn a little more.

    I admit that I have been faithful to Canon and haven't even handled any other lens line. I'm glad they exceed your expectations!

    Did I ever say that I recommend that 300mm f/4L IS? Honestly, I could use tubes, TC's, and the 300mm for 99% of the nature stuff.

    Loupey, I am woking on it with manual focus now. It is becoming VERY obvious that no AF system is worth fooling with.

    When I went for the new system - I ended up thinking Nikon and ended up buying Canon :lol:

    I highly recommend the L lenses they are beautiful to use and sooooo sharp even with AF.

    Love the frog's, and congrats on the FP.
