You've got some good shots there and you did really well to hand-hold at 1/15. I'm not sure that I could have pulled it off. It's a shame that in some their faces are lost in shadow.

Actually, if you were there, the photos are completely accurate - you couldn't see their entire face in the shadows! lol I never use a flash at live shows - i find the look of flash at live shows create a total lack of ambiance. True, you could see more of their face if using a flash, but it's not moody, like you're sitting there. ;) I was playing with slower settings, but it was a little too blurry when I went slower!

these were 1/15? Incredible! I despise flash concert photography, so I like these much more. they are very nice images, and you certainly captured the mood.

You have some real shots here Janie. I understand the situation where you couldn't use flash and had to use a slow shutter. It seems to have worked out on many of them. Others though it really could have used a faster SS and/or more DOF, esp on # 2 (my favorite) and the last one.

Love #5 Janie. That motion blur on his sax hands is great. Beautiful exposures. Looks like it was a great night of music.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Thank you for the comments! The whole series is at http://hauntinglybeautiful.com/eddieshaw/ if you want to see more. The above were just personal faves - like on the second I love seeing his hand move - he was poking toward me! lol
