    Baby Badgers!!

I got up early this morning and staked out a badger hole I found a couple of weeks ago. After sitting in my truck for 3 hours, these two finally popped their heads out. The photo session only lasted about 90 seconds, and back down the hole they went. I waited for another hour, but they didn't come back out. Hopefully I will get another chance to see these two again soon.

Thats just awesome!! Great shot!! Ive never seen a badger in the wild. Are they common to your part of the state? I am originally from Michigan but I dont remember ever seeing them or hearing about them.

    Re: Baby Badgers!!

Thanks BB. Wisconsin is knows as the "Badger State" but I wouldn't say they they are all that common. I think they come out mostly at night, so not many people see them. I have lived in WI all my life (I'm 33) and when I first found this den, it was only the 2nd living badger I had ever seen in the wild.

Here's another shot I just finished.

Thanks Paul. I only got off about 11 shots, but it was well worth the 4 hour wait.

Very cute and great job with your perserverence!

I've never seen wild badgers myself. I hope you'll have some more opportunities with these guys. Thanks for sharing these with us.

    Re: Baby Badgers!!

Thanks for looking and commenting everyone. I hope I can find more time to try and get some more pics of the badgers. I would like a pic of mamma too, but she never showed while I was there yesterday. Maybe I'll have to take a day off this week.

Congrats on the feature! Those are some really great shots of an interesting animal. Used to see these all the time when I lived in Montana.
