I jealous, I have never seen a scarlet tanager before, other than in photos.

    Nice find indeed!

I just saw my first ST last night. It was a pair deep in the woods and my shots are not as good as yours. May post it later.

Keep your eyes peeled, with the icebreaker hurdle gone, I'm sure you'll see them everywhere

    Re: Scarlet Tanager

I got lucky as usual. Right place right time. Thaks for the comments everyone.

Loupey - Now that you've seen it you'll get it .. I know the way you operate now lol..... I can see you all dressed in Camo hiding out in the bush .. defying west nile virus and 10 gajillion mosquitos just to get the shot lol.

Paul - My neighbor a few houses over and I are keeping a list of the birds we've seen in teh neighborhood (as well as our life lists now) and he's mad at me for not coming and getting him during my chase lol. I must've been a sight jumping over fences in my sock feet to get the shot. I ended up 1.5 blocks away from my house in my socks lol. Good thing the neighbors all know me now as the crazy photographer guy always talking to the birds lol.

I agree what a beautiful bird and one i will never get to see i doubt, so thanks for the painful, sock footed hike over the neighbourhood to get these shots. Excellent!

    Re: Scarlet Tanager

about 10 minutes ago this guy landed about 20 feet form me in my neighbors Lilac bush.

I got off about 5 shots and here's my best 2. Since the ice breaker went so well I didn't think I would get another opportunity to get another shot so nice again.

The eye looks odd in the first shot. Could it be that it looks this way since I actually got it in focus fir a change.
