off-camera flash. You have good poses and composition, but on-camera flash is probably one of the least flattering light sources possible. the complexion on the face is a bit uneven too, don't know if it is the biproduct of makeup, lighting, or post processing. check out strobist.com for some great tips on lighting models. It's helped me a lot.
Nice looking girl and none of these comments are a reflection on her, righto?
No. 1 is too centered, the direct flash is too harsh (amateurish), and the background needs to be dialed down (larger aperture.)
No. 2 has the right aperture for the background blurring. It still needs the flash diffussed in some way and it would be better if she were looking at you and if you were slightly lower to her eye level.
No. 3 has the same issues as No. 2.
No. 4 is the best, IMHO, although the dress seems sharper and in more focus than her face...
No. 5 is second best to me. She seems a touch slouched perhaps.
All he pics are good -- just sharing how they could be better for next time, perhaps.
thanks for the comments they help and thanks livin4lax09 i did some reading on that website. Lots of good info on there and getting the flash off the camera
All in all, these are wonderful photos.
The model is absolutely striking.
I do not find your flash all that distracting.
However, you may, perhaps, may wish to experiment with Westcott light modifier, attached to your auxiliary flash unit?
Still, superior work, all in all.
Congrats.
The lighting is very good on all of them. Some seem to be every so slightly cramped, needing a little more negative space. It seems that the top three are a bit soft (not sharp). Not sure if that was intentional. The backgrounds are a little too sharp - I would blur them a little more. Nice model and it seems that you've captured her in a very confident way.
