    Re: Portrait

A very effective and tonally pleasing shot, in my opinion. It is a little bit dark in the top half, and perhaps a bit soft (or oversharpened?), but just seems like it's out of an old movie. The TV is okay, but I would have removed the boom box -- looks a little too modern.

Also, and I don't know if you will agree with me, but I think that there's just a little bit too much happening in the background. I would crop out the entire, or almost the entire right-side desk/piece of furniture. It may center the fellow too much, but I somehow feel that will put the attention back on him. Good work!

EDIT - now I know what I don't like about that radio... its antennea. It almost turns him into a Martian. Just a little too close. Time to PS that thing out of there.

I like the everyday feel to this one. The man seems happy to be photographed, surrounded by what's his. I would like to have seen all of the old TV set as well.

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan

    Re: Portrait

I love this shot but agree with GB1 on the radio being too modern for the image, the hutch does not bother me and I would probably leave it uncropped.

Just out of curiosity... was the image taken with a medium format camera?
