    Talking Nikon Service

When I bought my D50 I sold my coolpix 5700 to a guy at work that was looking to upgrade to a better camera. He and his wife loved the camera and the pics it produced. I had almost every accessory for it (battery grip / wide angle converter / teleconverter / extra batteries ... ect.. )

So he had it for a couple months and he comes to work one day and says that the lens won't extract when the unit is turned on. I said hmmmm. Did some searching and seemed that it was an issue with the 5700 when turned on accidentally where the lens can't extract. So being the good guy I am, I said send it to Nikon and we will split the costs of the repairs, since I had seen that the average for that was around $250. He said that he doesn't expect me to pay for it since it was working great when he got it, but I insisted.

Well he got the camera back this week after about a month and a half and the invoice from Nikon said $0.00 due:thumbsup: Talk about some great customer service I said that pretty much sells you on Nikon for the rest of your life. He said yup.

    Re: Nikon Service

Very nice, and way past warranty! I have a Coolpix 5000 which came out at the same time and is very similar in a lot of ways. When the 5000 first came out there was a bug that would lock the camera up if you turned it on with the lens cap on (lens couldn't extend). The camera would have to go back for service - but they came out with a firmware update right away that fixed that problem.

Yes it was way past warranty ... When I did my search for him to see what the issue was it seemed like a very common issue with the camera ... maybe Nikon is repairing these now for no cost ??? also the camera is in like new condition ... that may also be taken into consideration when they got it ??? either way big KUDOS out to them for taking care of their people !!!
