Bad Pixs of a Good Subject

This is all I got today

The temps fell to the low 30's and really windy too. The kestrels were back today - haven't seen them since the Red-Winged Blackbirds took the fields two weeks ago. The weather made the RWB's and meadowlarks virtually non-existent today.

Lighting was really bad. Perhaps I should have stayed home today. I did see my third successful hunt by a kestrel. I must say that they seem to score higher percentage-wise than the hawks.

At least you still managed to get some images of these pretty kestrels of yours, but we all have days like yours, and as frustrating as they are, i think it makes the good days even better!

Paul, Bev - thanks for looking. Yeah, it goes to prove that when the lighting/background/elements just aren't there, one cannot force a good picture out of it. Good time to practice or just go for a walk

terryger - LOL, the hardest step with the 300mm+2x is just finding the subject in the viewfinder I'll point to where I think I should be pointing, only to see a different patch of sky/twigs/grass. However, once I spot them in the viewfinder, I can usually follow them.
