    Crop Choice

I am putting the finishing touches on a selective colour image from my shots at the Daytona 500 and I am stuck here. I really like this image for many reasons (besides the fact that I am a lover of all things Tony Stewart) but I can't decide which of these crop choices give a more dynamic feel to the shot.

    Re: Crop Choice

Hi there... I am not personally a great fan of selective desaturation unless it is extremely discrete. However, that is not what you asked for. In my view the first one is better, simply because moving objects need space to move into. The bottom one is cropped too tight (and so it looks like the car is about to crash into the corner of the pic if you see what I mean). If anything, and if you have some room in the original file, I would be inclined to give it even more space.

    Hope that helps.

    Re: Crop Choice

I see them in a different order !
The one that is at the bottom, or second, for me, has the largest dark (grass?) area at the bottom and the most space on the left.
I agree that's the best as it has more space for the lead car to drive into...

I like the second image. The tighter crop accents the action. Can you make the lead car brighter?

Too bad all the people who know how to run this country are busy running taxicabs or cutting hair.

    I prefer the first.
I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why Paul seems to see them in a different order.

I like the second one, it gives me a feel as if the cars are closer to each other. It gives it a tighter feel.

I like the one with more space in front.
The b/w seems overly dark to me...
