Bald Beauty

Here's another bald eagle I found while driving the back roads yesterday afternoon.

Re: Bald Beauty

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment everyone. I love that these great birds are getting more and more common around this area. I see them quite regularly now, and I never get tired of them.

Re: Bald Beauty

beautiful shot, I seen my first bald eagle in the wild just a few days ago and I too got a few photos but nothing like that detail. Mine was shot at a fairly long distance and I had to use 2MP smart zoom on my H5 to get close enough but still happy with what I got especially at that distance but it was just a great sight to even see one, a rarity around here.

btw whats this bag of rice trick you speak of?

Re: Bald Beauty

Thanks Jimmy, quetzal and rumrak for the kind words.

The bag of rice trick is this. I keep 2 bags of rice in my truck at all times. One is 2.5 pounds,, the other is 5 pounds. When I'm shooting hand held from my truck, with my 170-500mm lens, I put the smaller bag of rice on the window, rest my lens on the bag, then place the heavier bag of rice on top of the lens. It really helps to stabilize the lens, and reduce camera shake.

That is a neat idea, and will sure be helpful when I move to a DSLR, thanks for the tip

Re: Bald Beauty

I saw an eagle yesterday, too. He/she was circling in a group of turkey vultures and it took me a moment to notice. Here's my shot. Don't be embarrassed if mine makes yours look bad, okay? It's not a competition or anything...
