    Gulls & Girls!

Well, 1 girl, and that was me.
Went down the river close to home, and there was a lot of gulls congregating around the dock so decided to grab a few shots.

That second gull is great! I am not good with gulls, but it looks to be a blackheaded gull to me?

    Re: Gulls & Girls!

Thank you Knight and Paulnj, and sorry i should have put there ID's down (although i have to check in my book!) the No.1 is a Herring Gull, 2.& 4 are blackheaded gulls, (i think thats right about #4 as it is very similar to a Little Gull). Image 3 shows black-backed and juvenile black-backed gulls, all the common varieties.

I love number two, you caught the gull at just the right moment! Did you try manual focus with the flight shots? I started my day practicing but didn't get too far before I went to AF.

Copy, I have been trying manual everyday, but still reverting back to AF as its what i feel moreat home and confident with, but a challenge is a challenge!! and il be out today practising! as even if you dont use a certain mode its always beneficial to know how to if needs be.
Good Luck in your practice, im out hopefully at a herons nesting sight today, so i may be posting some very blurry ones later!!!

Wonderful images Bev. I have seen so many great bird images on this forum I've been inspired to take up bird photography myself, I just need to buy a good birding lens now.
