    Fish... C&C Please

This is my female OB Zebra.

0lympus E-500, ∑55-200, f.14, 1/160, ISO 100, I used the FL-36 to fire off camera strobe situated on top of tank...

Very nice. I'd have to agree with just a bit too much flash, but not much. But that could be the color of the fish fading and if it reflects the fish exactly as it is in real life, then bravo!

looks good to me. The too much flash look may be brought upon by the black background, which in contrast makes the fish look brighter than normal.

i dont see too much flash.. i see a very nice picture.. but my standards are based on my own perceived abilities.. not some theoretically perfect but photographically impossible ones..

i see a very nice image that i would be happy to have produced..

    1) spotless glass
    2) Flash off camera at a angle so the reflection is not in the lense
    or
    2) spot lights at a angle so the reflection is not in the lense
    3) you have to wait to get a good shot

    Re: Fish... C&C Please

    Wow!

Hey everybody, thanks for the posts!

For this one I used a studio strobe mounted on top of the tank at an angle. To get the black background I angled the flash slightly forward so none of its light would be cast on the back wall of the tank. The tank has black felt draped across the back so this helps to produce the deep black and reduce glare. Absolutely spotless glass is the most important thing, but I almost always end up cloning out a few specks here and there.

    Thanks guys!

I definitely like the simplicity of this shot. Great background, great color, great focus. Did I say great enough? Great
