Eagle!
I went out specifically to shoot a bald eagle today...I saw several...all juvenile, including this guy that soared directly overhead.
Still more pics to come.
Randy.

Re: Eagle!
Man, Randy - eagles, harriers, and kestrels - sounds like you have great habitat nearby.
Thanks for posting.

Re: Eagle!
Thanks for the nice comments!
There was kind of a funny story behind this one. I was talking to a few hunters at the legion on Thursday night and they mentioned a nest at a nearby conservation area. After hashing out the location of the nest, I went out on Friday and while I saw several flying around, I never did find the nest. I saw one a great distance upriver, but it was surrounded by private land that I was unable to gain access to. After wandering around the CA for a few hours getting pictures of chickadees and cardinals, and few fleeting sightings of the BE's, I packed it in and set off for home via the back roads. On the way, I saw the harriers, and then the kestrel, and then I saw the eagle hovering over some trees. At first I thought it was a biggish red-tailed, but as I got closer, I thought....'wow, that is REALLY big'....so I stopped the truck and got out...and he/she flew right over my head. I had the 400mm on, but I probably could have got good shots with the 18-55 he was so close.
It was so cold today, that I didn't even go out at all. -16C with about a 40mph wind....brrrr....no thanks.
Randy.
