Not too shabby there Randy! If not for the BG , that first one would be killer.

    Nice timing, Randy.

Looks like you're shooting through a window. I'm sure it's freeze-your-butt-cold there but I think the quality will improve dramatically if you wait outside or open the door/window to make the shot.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Loupey,

It was through a window. A none-too-clean-Jack-Russell-noseprint-covered window at that. These were kind of spur-of-the-moment shots this AM. I was still in my PJ's drinking coffee when I saw the blue jay come in for peanuts....so I set up the tripod in the window and started shooting.

I will set it up on the deck later this week and see if I can get some clean shots.

"PJ's drinking coffee" shooting is the best type of shooting

I just slide open the door just enough to stick the 300mm out when something happens out back. Gotta stick it out though to get out past the cold/warm air boundary.

    Kinda sounds dirty

Re: Some "In-Flight" pics from the feeder...

Nice shots Randy. And, as has already been said, nice timing.

PJ's n' coffee.....personally it'll be a hot chocolate and track pants here ... but the squirrels love playing on the fence in the morning.. I get a few shots as they run around to keep up practice for panning race cars, then I give em a shout to warn them before I let the cross legged dog out for a pee.

I basically do what Loupey does also... but no tripod. I'd be swearing and kicking the tripod every 2 minutes as I banged it off the window trying to grab the camera and follow a bird as it shot skyward or something (yes I speak from experience.. the tripod is banned from the living room :blush2: ) So I am forced to shoot hend held ...which has given me lots of practice at holding very still.
