    First Pictures

Although I am not completely happy with the results, I thought I would post two of my first pictures for your comments.

    Skyline Shot:
The sky was a very odd colour on this evening, and it was snowing in the distance. I think that may be the reason for the grainy sky and blob (snowflake?) in the sky. It was a 30 Second exposure, F22, 31mm focal length, Rebel XTi, VERY cold out!!

    Dog Shot:
Just my dog acting the fool as I read my owners manual for the spanking new camera..

    Appreciate the comments...

Nice skyline shot. Love the effect that the falling snow has on the lights (that blob, btw, is dust on your imaging sensor).

I normally like foreground detail in shots like this to give it depth. However, I feel it is too dominant here - perhaps due to the brightness of it.

As for the dog - that's just spooky

    Thanks for the comments Loupey,

As for the dust.. I have images taken immediately before and after this shot that do not have that spec, so I am a little baffled...

I will try some control shots tonight to see if it is still there.

Poor dog is going to be depressed to hear that...

Then it must be a UFO!

It looks, feels, tastes like dust. Shoot a blank wall and see if you can find it. If not, perhaps it was a chunky one and fell off with a mirror actuation.

I agree with everything Loupey has already said (except I don't think the dog is spooky, lol), including the spot being dust on your sensor. I had a dust spot on my sensor that would only show up when I took a shot with the sky in it.

    Thanks Paul,

I didn't know dust would do that type of thing. I assumed that if it was there you would always see it. I guess I will have to take it in to have it cleaned (and they can show me how to do it properly).

    Thanks again gents!
