The King Of Blues and His Plumb

I went on a photoshoot this morning at the Leo Castillo Ranch, in Carlsbad, California. I got these two shots of peacocks that were walking the ranch.

Nice job once again, CF. Tough shooting against white sky but you did great. I like the head position so as to catch the light in his eye. The DOF looks a touch shallow as the top of the head/crest seems a little soft.

The second is nice. A tad closer to highlight the textures would improve IMO.

Re: The King Of Blues and His Plumb

    Loupey,

Thanks very much for the comments and suggestions. In the first image, from top down, the sky was deep overcast, no shadows so while the colors were great it made for difficulty as you decribed. I tried hard to capture the head/beak of the bird in the similar shaped darkness of trees in the background. In the second shot, I got as close as I could while keeping the background which is more of the birds back and has the distinctive "eye" feathering just visible.

    That was my thinking anyway.

    Thanks again.

Nice job, the blues are the hardest area to control, and you've done fine.

I love the angle at which you took this, and the colours are stunning.

Re: The King Of Blues and His Plumb

Yes, I did but thanks for letting me know. Several months ago I had a POTD, a red tailed hawk, and didn't even know it. So, thanks again.
