    Throat Of The Yucca

Looking right down the throat of giant yucca. I thought the lighting made for an interesting image.

The blurred backgound in the center takes my eyes away from anything in focus.

A macro shot of the thorny edge with the smooth texture in the majority of the frame might be interesting.

Here's a great example of when you would want an extremely shallow DOF.

The shot is too wide IMO. I would have gotten closer, gotten the two sides of the "V" (not necessary to get the entire "V" IMO) in the same plane of focus, and blown out the background.

As Manacsa stated, the center pulls too much attention.

The lighting is nice - great that you noticed it and saw the image there.

    CF,

Hmmm. The lighting wasnt super exciting on this one. I agree with Loupey in that a shallow DOF might have added some interesting depth here. What is the strange blue tint? Is that the way it was? Hmm.. they're usually green I thought, but I guess I have seen a few other colors on them, just not throughout the plant. The 'teeth' of the V are nice, but the middle blades are forgettable (sorry, but just cant think of a better word ). Anyway, for a simple shot, it does have an attraction to it... Must be the V.

    Re: Throat Of The Yucca

Thanks everyone for the comments. I have been a bit disappointed that there were no comments for the longest time. I didn't know what to think of this. It has an attraction to me, with the sharp foreground and cactus barbs leading into the center of this huge plant. This is the color of this plant. The vary in color from a solid grey to this shade of teal. However, I understand everything each of you has said and hope to reshoot and try again. That is what makes this website so great. I have read things here that I never thought of.

    Thank to all.

CF...I can see why this would attract you...I really like the edges and the colors you mentioned. I actually don't mind the center being a little less in focus...my eye is drawn to the "thorny" edge of the leaf there.

I like this...and look forward to your reshoot of it.
