    Need help identifying flower

Does anyone know what kind of flower this is?
My friend got them in a bouquet...
    Much appreciated!

Sure! The kind of flowers that grow too close to a nuclear power generating station.

Are these colors for real? At first I thought it was a stylized image (colorized negative) until I saw the backsides of these blooms. I've never seen anything like it.

Then again, I'm not a bouquet-giving-kind-of-guy either. Just ask my wife

lol - yes these colors are for real... or at least someone at the florst shop made them like this. I've seen them several times though... But I've also seen blue roses... So I don't know if they grow naturally like this but I have to figure out the name if I want to enter them in our contest... Why not surprise your wife tomorrow???

Judging from the flower heads structure, it is a type of orchid. I am not sure of it's name, so you may want to try a search for orchid ID's , perhaps you will find it there somewhere.

Edit: The blue color on the inner areas are likely added. It is most likely from the tribe Cymbidium, which are hybrid forms.

I too have seen these before, but I do have a clue as to what they are. Although your first shot is gorgeous. Love the color.

Then I agree with Payn - a hybrid or even a genetically altered variety.

Still, very cool looking. I just can't imagine natural selection selecting these to develop.

We have glowing fish, glowing pigs... imagine what "science" will produce next.
