    Bird Photography

I currently use a panasonic dmc fz4 with a built in 12 x lense which gives 420mm at max zoom, see pic samples. I am considering upgrading to a DSLR for ranges of 400 - 800mm, any suggestions on systems IE: Sony A100 etc.

    Nice shots!
You dont state where the bird actually is wild/tame etc, i can only presume its wild and if so what a fantastic opportunity. Well done.

I dont know anything about Sony either, im a Canon girl! but im sure theres plenty of people here that can advise.

    Re: Bird Photography

Wow! To see one wild like that, must have been exhillerating. To get it on camera, even better

Canon me too. Not that that is the only good choice out there.

I'd recommend you start by making a list of lenses you foresee needing down the road. Then find the brand that has best set of these lenses with the prices/features that you want. Bodies change constantly. Lenses stay somewhat constant (in this rapid digital age).
