    Big Cat day.

I went on a Photography day to a Big Cat centre (a present from someone), and found the day quite educational (the camera side of things) we were also shown how to photograph through wire etc, these images were all shot through wire.

I love big cats Bev!!! They are all very nice photos.

So, what's the secret for shooting through wire?

Big cats rule! I like them all but the second one is my favorite. Looks like you had a good shooting. My wife and I are going to be going to The San Francisco Zoo within a week or so and hopefully they have some big cats there.

    Re: Big Cat day.

Thanks everyone, i enjoyed this day more than i thought i would, so much so i have booked a day photographing Wolves, but these are in a more open area, so giving more of a challenge to photograph.

Just yo, the simple tip of it all is just have your lense as close as possible to the gap in the wire, (chain link in this case) i found it easier without a lense hood, but light was good so flare was at the minimum, its very much the same as working through glass.

WOW Bev! Those are some real beauties, I would have never guessed that they were shot through wire. The composition in all of them is quite pleasing and the color looks excellent as well. All of them show interesting expressions and make me want to keep looking.

That first one is amazing. It seems they never do it when your ready and waiting.

    Love the eyes in #2.

Looks like you had a great time.

    Re: Big Cat day.

The Lynx shot (the first one) is just about perfect. Nice framing and good bokeh.Very photogenic cat, in particular, the nose!

Did you know that the second lynx shot (the fourth photo in the post) made Photo of the Day in the Gallery for January 12, 2007? I've started recently looking as often as I log in (usually everyday) to see what has popped up in that spot. Congratulations!

Nice work and looking forward to wolves. Tucked away in some archive or another are some red wolf pics from the past. There are two different colonies of them within one hours drive from my home that I periodically visit. They can be pretty shy even around food. Take a long lens. Happy shooting!

Thanks Loupey and Payn817 yes it was a great day, well worth it.

Thanks drg for pointing that out i had'nt noticed, Wow. I shall be looking on there much more frequently. It must be great to have wild wolves near to where you live, i would have just as much joy being able to watch them yet alone having the chance to photograph them.
