    An Evening with Comet McNaught

I spent the evening watching and photographing the sunset and waiting for Comet McNaught to become visible. Well right at sunset it appeared in the sky. It was very bright and was probably visible earlier if I knew exactly where to look.

I thought it would be closer to the horizon and was worried about the low clouds blocking the visibility but it appeared as a bright bright star while the sky was still quite blue.

    Venus right after sunset.

Venus after it had darkened up a bit.

While I was there I photographed the little dipper.

Re: An Evening with Comet McNaught

The weather has finally cleared here, so I'm hoping to get some shots of the comet tonight. I've been chomping at the bit, wanting to get out and take some photo's of it before it drops too low to the horizon.

Turns out this bright object I was tracking wasn't McNaught, but Venus!

    I'll try again tonight.
