    Ferrari

This was under mixed daylight, SON, and Mercury lamps, at the Autosport International Show.
Maybe with three different colour temperatures in the same shot I'm going to have to balance each shot individually.

As well as the usual C&C on these, I need to get better colour - suggestions please !
Preferably without hours of post-processing, and without needing a porter to carry the lights.

The Autosport International Show is at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham January 11-14 - maybe I'll see some of you there.

    Re: Ferrari

ok now I can see them. what an awesome looking car. Nice shots SW. I learned a trick for bringing out selective colors in an image this week but sinc eI am still learning it it would take me 3 times longer to explain it that it would take to do it. It isn't a long process just finicky and tedious. I was shown the technique for bringing out the blues in the sky of a shot without drowning out the rest of the image in blue saturation.

If I can remember how to do it again I'll try and write the steps down as I go.

    Nice pictures

I saw a Ferrari like the one driving around here in the last picture, except it was yellow. I wish I had my camera.

    Re: Ferrari

    Thanks Greg,
    Why #3?
    Colour, or the angle?
#4 is pretty straight and boring, to me.
#1 is similar to #3 but opposite handed.
Should the nose of the car be on the left or right?
Is the detail in #2 too close cropped, or not enough?

I know this may sound silly, but I really feel I want a red balance, not a white balance in these shots to get the colours matching a sample of Ferrari red paint swatch.

    Paul,

What have you tried so far? With so many light sources you may have to settle for close enough on the red and let the highlights twinge a little blue and green. Fiddling around on my system I found some very acceptable corrections by doing a replace color cast selection to the white circle on the door in #3. But since you are going for a specific red why not use the channel mixer to selectively adjust the reds once you've adjusted the white?

    Re: Ferrari

#3 because of the angle and how you filled the shot up with the car. You can look over the hood or down the side. The only draw back to the whole picture is the reflection in the hood of the ceiling windows, but you couldn't help that. Plus I had a toy car just like this when I was a kid and Ioved it. I would have liked #1 better if you had moved slightly left. I would like to see down the side of it as well. Do you remember your camera settings???
    #4 Does seem flat.

    Re: Ferrari

This is a quick edit of what I would do to them.

I applied identical level and color mask layer adjustments to all three.
I redused noise then used a little USM. some crop and straighten as well if I thought it was needed.

some good angles but a little more of the side on the 575 would have been cool. The enzo is a good shot but I think it would have been improved by either going lower or higher, I tihn kthe lines of the car get cutoff i nthe back a bit at this angle. #3 is a nice shot, the lines of the car flow fro mone corner of the frame to the other. I think the Enzo headlight pic could be improved if the entire light assembly was in focus, the projector seems just out the the DOF

#1 and #3 look good, but I feel you over sharpened #2. The reflections look more like scratches. But you did improve the color...

Ya I do agree with you, I was using essentially the same settings for all 3 to make it very quick and easy. the harsh light reflections require a lighter sharpening.
