Looking for Guidelines

Just purchased a new 30d with the kit lens and also the 28-135 lense. Looking for guidelines in purchasing a flash unit and a decent tripod. Also a dealer online wherebuy said items have a reasonable pricetag.

For what it's worth, I use the 430EX - lovely unit, great response on the camera, ergonomically good and a good price (IMHO) for the spec and the fact that it's Canon
