    Global Warming, Cause and Effect

I have seen many pictures of old smoke stacks. I wanted to do something a little different. Let me know if it works or not....

I think it is a good shot/composition to begin with. The effect of the wild colors (Solarize?) is a matter of personal preference and for me , it looks good.

Thanks for your comments JD. I knew when I threw this up it wouldn't be everyones cup of tea. I was exprimenting around trying a PhotoShop technique to give this an infrared look. But have since learned I need a red filter. I have an alternate version that has a more gloomy sky.
Thanks Gary for your comment. I was actually just testing out the meter on a Rangefinder that I bought off of e-bay, and this is one of the first pictures I have taken with it. Tuna has inspired me to try one out. Thanks, Tuna. So far I love it. There are many benefits that I see already to a Rangefinder, talk about a fast lens. I posted the original picture to show what I started with.
Thanks Frog, I work only a rocks throw from these stacks. Where I work is actually part of the same closed down complex. When I recover from my back surgery this area is going to make for some great Sunday trespassing.

    Greg,

I really like this and the effect is terrific. As far as I'm concerned their both winners.

It's a very high impact shot with great perspective. I like the original and the first one posted equally. Just a little pity that one stack shadows the other. Make a great print from this which will catch everyones attention when they visit your front room. The stacks are really beautiful in themselves with all that lovely curved brickwork.

Re: Global Warming, Cause and Effect

Thanks, Rodger and Tom for the comments. The clouds were moving fairly fast on this day, if I had would have had all of my equipment with me I would have tried to capture movement in the clouds. The Canon QL-17 has such a fast lens it was all I could do to get the camera slow enough. I don't have the right size polarizer for the Canon yet so I just had to hold one over the lens on this...
