    just a pretty sunset...

Winter's pond, shawnee national forest. 09/30/06

not my usual cup of tea, but it was a pretty sunset. would have been nice to take a series and make an HDR composition. EXIF embedded.

Nice indeed, but to contrasty and saturated for my taste.

Actually, I have seen original sunset slides with no postprocessing from a 90 year old photographer with this level of colour, so you would be wrong to automatically assume saturation.

My problem is with the somewhat visually confusing foreground, including the amount of negative space with no detail.

I have a few slides that saturated from my area in NJ and Sedona AZ, but they are not to my liking as is. I was not implying that they were bad or unnatural, just too much for my personal taste.

Like most of my colleagues, who do one heck of a lot of shooting, my taste tends to be neutral when viewing any shot. The point is not whether the shot is to my taste but rather whether it displays excellent technique and composition, and that is according to the general standards and norms reflected in published photography.
