    An American Marten in Canada

    This is my first attempt at posting a picture. I took this picture as the little guy tried to sneak a rib bone from a dumpster. It was a quick snap with my EOS 20D and I cropped it considerably.

    Great capture, looks cute, soft, and dang mean with those claws...furry little paradoxes those Martens.

    I'm guessing that was the best angle possible for such a critter in that environment. But if you get a chance again, try crouching down to his level, but be careful of the background, I imagine that this shot would have shown the dumpster in the background.

    If possible, try leaving a little bit of room in the crop in front of the Marten, the image will somehow look a little better when the subject has "somewhere to go" Usually I try not to center my subjects, but there are exceptions to every rule.

    Shoot things like this more than once too with different framing and maybe different angles, 20D is fast right?
