Hi, veggie. Baby's can be such great subjects.
It appears you have done these at mid-day, which is when the light is harshest. Notice the squint in number 1 and the shadows in number 2.
Try early or late in the day or even a day with light overcast.
The top of the head is chopped in number one also and most of the left side could be cropped out.

I actually like the first one a lot. The baby is squinting a bit. But the light is beautiful and I like the composition. I think a tighter crop would make the space feel too tight. Your composition follows the Rule-of-Thirds and the space on the left suggests distance that the baby is looking into. If the baby were looking into the camera, then I think I might crop it tighter as the space on the left would be uneccessary.

Frog is rigt about shooting at midday. The light is very harsh and generally it's best to avoid - especially for pictures of people. But I think you actually did a pretty good job. If you pay close attention and really look at what the light is doing, you can take good pictures in almost any light. It looks and sounds to me like you are paying attention and seeing what's really there. Even though the light is strong in these, I can see all the important details and features. I think you did a great job. Did you use some fill flash on the second one?

Thanks for your comments. It helps a lot.

It was taken at about 4 pm. I did not use any flash, but I did lighten it up a bit with aperture.

I try to shoot for stock.
