    Backyard Feeder Antics

It's been awhile since I shot our feeder. Thought I'd give it another try today and attempt to get some long exposure streaking stuff. Lighting didn't cooperate for those so I got the traditional stuff instead.

The first one of the cardinal I used my 430EX flash set for high-synch so I can shoot at 1/1000th second. Manual flash output at 1/16 power to fill in the shadows of the morning light.

Once the sun came through (all our leaves are just about gone now ), I upped the speed to 1/1500th and lost the flash to get the sparrows.

    Re: Backyard Feeder Antics

Couldn't resist the antics of the sparrows so I got these in short order (not quite sequential).

It was entertaining watching 4 sparrows trying to land on 3 perches (one broke off a while back).

    Thanks for looking.

    Re: Backyard Feeder Antics

Thanks, Copy and Knight. Not the best nor the most natural images I know

Feels good to shoot and post again. Shame too as I missed the peak fall colors here

I will try the long exposure stuff again when the lighting is more cooperative.

    Thanks again!

Good ones Loupey! sparrows or "mice with wings" make great little subjects for flight shot practice!

Great shots Loupey. I enjoyed the sparrow series, you were right in referring to them as antics..

    Thanks, Paul, S-D, and Jingle!

The backyard is a great place to practice. And comfortable too!

But I did buy a full set of cammo gear to go hiking so the next images should be wild

Agree about the first part, but... the second part sounds like a personal dig - ouch!

Joking - I know what it is but I didn't get those. We'll see what images I can scrounge up

    Re: Backyard Feeder Antics

Scentloc would help more with MAMMALS since the human scent is a threat to most mammal species Birds (as with most wildlife) are threatened by the SHAPE of humans and movement , but scent doesn't play a role to the best of my knowledge.

    Everyone stinks to wildlife
