    Sunset in oil country...

Sunsets are different in the West Texas oil fields than they are in the rolling hills of my part of Kentucky. Here are a few examples from my resent trip.

Thanks for the kind comments. In looking at these I just realized that the #4 is a sunrise not a sunset. Oh well it was a little late last night when I posted these.

Very nice work! Like the first one which kind of reminds me of a shot I did a couple of years ago (if I do say so myself... ). Also really like the windmill shot; reminds me of other parts of Texas that I've been to. Such a huge wide open space!

    Hi OT,

Very nice images! I really like that last one, with the glowing rig in the distance. Did you notice any pumping units that had the word "Lufkin" on them, in a red rectangle? They're made in my home town. I'm so proud.

I've seen sights like that last photo, but never when I could photograph them. That part of Texas reminds me of Colorado, because I always pass through it on the way. It takes many hours to get there from the hills around Austin.

Oh, and you did time the weather very well on your trip. It's back up to 93 degrees today.

They're all great! I love the feel of distance the clouds in the last picture give.

Thanks for the nice comments on these images guys. And I'm sorry Paul but I didn't notice the name on the rigs. I have a few more from my Texas adventure that I hope to post later.

Hey Paul I went back and look at a few of my other images and guess what? I should have looked at these before I answered you.

Yep. That's the one. These are all over. I remember seeing them in Canada on a trip with my parents when I was 12. You can also spot "Lufkin" trailers on the highway. They make big box trailers and flatbed trailers for 18 wheelers. Yep...that's where I'm from.

PS. sorry for the late reply...been out of town for a while.

I have a day time one of the rig up close but I wasn't over there at night. I'll try and look it up tonight when I'm at home with all the images.
