    Red face Another waterfall...different settings.

Here's another version of the third shot - .6 and 29 (that's slower than 1.3 and 36 - right? It all confuses me still! as embarrassing as it is to ask that question)

    Re: Another waterfall...different settings.

I liked your first post of waterfall shots. Nicely done.

As for this one, it looks nice too but probably could use a bit of curves adjustment. And I think it probably could have benefitted had you stepped back to get more of the fall.

Other than that not bad at all.

Btw, I'm a bit confused about your stated settings above. I have no idea what .6 or 29 refers to on your camera. Could you elaborate please?

As I previously have admitted - a lot of this is still 'greek' to me. To get my settings I went into a program in my computer where my images are stored. It says that for this shot
    Tv( Shutter Speed )
    0.6
    Av( Aperture Value )
    29.0
    Does that help?

    Ah, that makes sense now.

While I haven't really tried to get a good waterfall shot, I believe I read somewhere that a nuetral density filter should help you to get the smooth water effect you want. It tends to bring the camera down one or one and a half stops and reduces glare as well. One of these days I'm gonna give this a try.

I want to get some filters, but I need to get a good idea in my head what they can do and what the options are before I decide. I'd really like one that would enable me to get good shots when it is bright and sunny out. I re-read what I said about things sounding 'greek' to me and realized what I should have said was that they sound "geek" to me - cause I'm a dork about this stuff. ALTHOUGH - I'm learning!

Nice. Yes, could use some PP adjustments, just to bring it more to life (it is good but a bit hazy). I would also crop out the bottom 1/8 or so, just below the end of the white foamy area. Perfect softness.

GB1 - waht are PP adjustments? I actually did a little editing on this before posting it. I like the crop idea. Did you look at the other waterfalls I posted?

No, you're not a dork. And we're all learning. Don't forget that every knowledgeable photographer was once at the level that you are at or that I am at. Some of them might tend to forget that and get a big head, but when they get to that point they aren't worth listening to anyway.

If you want to learn more about filters, just go to http://www.hoyafilter.com/ That should help you to find out which type of filter it is that you will need.

For waterfalls in particular, go here: http://www.hoyafilter.com/products/hoya/oef-05.html

Its a nice shot but I think maybe it would look a little better if you'd gotten more of the second waterfall in the picture instead of more of the rock or whatever is bordering to the left...
But its a really nice shot =)
