    Orange!

It's been a little while since I've posted, I'm just getting back into the swing of things at school. I know flowers are a little boring, but I really love the color orange, and had to snap a photo. I'm not sure what to do about that shriveled flower in the background. Any ideas?

    Re: Orange!

I think this would make a nice picture but it seems like the flower is either out of focus or over saturated (it might just be me as a lot of pictures of orange and red flowers look this way to me)... maybe the picture needs to be sharpened.

If you could shoot this flower again, pinch off the stem of the other flower.

The depth of field is a little too narrow, thus the reason whyt he flower is not all in focus. Try changing you f-stop (aperture) 1/3 stop.
you might play with the contrast a little to brigthen the flower and darken the background to add some pop to the flower.

Echo - Like jdugger said, the DOF needs to be deeper. But from experience I've found that photographing flowers is a little harder than it looks: they tend to blow around in the wind a lot, forcing you to use a faster SS. And of course, that means a larger aperature

I like the orange burst here - would make an excellent Halloween time photo. Too bad the background isnt a little bit darker.

Just playing with it, I found that cropping out the top 1/2 to 1/3 of the shot makes it very interesting, though unconventional. Attached - does this seem crazy?

Hey GB1. This is another from the same day, but here I made the background darker. Originally, I thought I liked the lighter background, but I think this is better. I really liked the crop you suggested! What do you think?

Wow Echoback, that looks pretty cool the way you darkened it. I would take the picture again minus the dead flower on the right and do the same PP.

That's it - the darker background is better. Also like how u cut it in almost a perfect half.. for some reason, it works here

I like the darker, cropped version. The original had a strange focus to it. Intense with the darkened background.
