    WHOA!
You know YoYo, you are getting better and better!
I think I have said this before about your photgraphy, but I think this is the best photograph I have ever seen from you.
This is a great photograph, it's almost two photographs in one.
You have the cityscape in the background, and then the people in the foreground.
The lines from the path really make this photograph!
I like how they fork which kind of gives your eye two paths to follow, but then they all of the sudden come together and lead your eye to the same thing!

Lol, you've got a clever title here. I like how your Kitkat leads me into the scene. This is definately a quality photograph. I can't complain about it but I am just not as enthusiastic as Brian. If I had to pick my best from you, it would have to be "Napping East, Resting West".

    Yoyo,

I love the composition, however the burnt out sky and sky scrapers in the top spoil the effect. Is there any more detail that you can burn in?

    I beg to differ Roger...
I think that having the siginificant difference in tonality between the background and the foreground is good!
I think there is just the right amount of detail in the city.

    Re: Have a Kit Kat!

Yoyo - Well, it's a nice vista and a nice city for sure. But I also find the washed out background to be a major drawback. It looks like a very hazy, muggy summer day, possibly even smog surrounding the city there. I personally like the contrast between the trails and the skyscrapers, but the direct shot of the two from this angle... It overwhelms me a little.

    I don't get the KitKat thing (???).

    Re: Have a Kit Kat!

I tend to agree with Brian/Seb. There's just something about the clean, crisp look of the park, with the leisurely feel, then the line of trees seperating the chaotic scene of the city. If the buildings weren't fading in the haze, and the sky were not blown, it would detract from the photo for me.

LOL you are really making me giggle tonight GB.
I was looking for the kit kat too! Maybe one of those people have one in their hand
I hope you will enlighten us clueless people Yoyo.

That highlight is drawing my eye away from the scene though. Although I love the skyscraper backdrop. Would a slight crop make a difference?

    Re: Have a Kit Kat!

I believe the kit kat thing is the people in the park getting a break from the big urban city. ie the kit kat song, give me a break.
Thats what i assume, if not, it should be :-)

    Re: Have a Kit Kat!

Hi Brian, Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. I am glad that the shot works for you.

Hi Seb, Thanks for the kind words as always.

Hi Roger, Thanks for the perspective. The day I took this shot was very smoggy. The not-so-clear details of the buildings may be due to the smog.

Hi GB and Alison, The title was inspired by the advert of Kit Kat - "Have a break, Have a Kit Kat." An advert of Kit Kat is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smA7Q...arch=kit%20kat. This is another advert which is my favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRkb7...arch=kit%20kat. Alison, I have tried to imagine the shot with lesser sky. I find it too dramatic and having a lot of pressure. Thanks for the thought.

Hi Payn, I am glad that the shot works for you.

Hi Dylan, You are right about the title. Thanks

    Re: Have a Kit Kat!

This is an awesome photo! I prefer the sky the way it is. The square pattern of the balconies gets smaller in the distance and then blurs into the sky. If the sky was darker I think you'd loose some sense of depth, and the extra detail would detract from the foreground. I wouldn't change a thing.

My guess at the title is the balconies on the buildings look like the cookie wafer inside a KitKat.

    Re: Have a Kit Kat!

You know, at first I didn't care for this photo but I kept coming back to it. The more I viewed it, the more it grew on me. I guess the stark contrast between the hustle and bustle of the city and the leisure of the park is what compels me to like it more and more. The blown out sky doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I think it adds overall character of the photo. The contrast between city & park life is only heightened by the smoggy, bleak, stark sky hanging over the buildings, thus conveying the feeling that we yearn to get away from all that to relax and get invigorated by a more serene and natural setting. I now have to say this is a most excellent image.

By the way, I've been to Hong Kong once but it was on an overlay to Manilla and I was only there for an hour (and in the airport at that!). But from the sky, as we were making our approach, I don't think I've ever seen a city so lit up and so full of color as Hong Kong was at night! Unfortunately I wasn't into photography back then. But Yoyo, I would love it you would once in a while show us those bright, colorful city lights every now and then.

By the way, below is in my opinion the BEST photo I've seen from Yoyo. I'm sorry I didn't comment on it when she posted it, but I'm giving her kudos now.

    Hi schrackman,
Thanks a lot for the detailed analysis of the shot. Your thoughts induced me to think again about the photo and the meaning of taking photos. Thanks for the suggestion of the night views of HK, I will shoot some. I am glad that your like the Jizo shot. I hope the inclusion of it in the end of the Dialogue series could deliver an optimistic message.
