catching the rays
This robin hen was determined to get the sun this morning as she lay out on some grass cuttings, then off into a shaded tree for some preening.

Re: catching the rays
I love that second one and the 3rd would be sweet with a little fill flash.

Nice bevb. That last one reminds me of Bela Lugosi (?) as the vimpire hiding behind his cape.

Re: catching the rays
Thankyou quetzal and OT, i was rather pleased to of captured that pose, gives it a little more depth other than just preening.
Paulnj im glad you mentioned flash, even the 20D having flash i rarely used it but the 1D MKllN not having any i am going to have to think about getting a unit, but i am going to have to do some research as im not sure what will be the best to get to suit my needs.

Re: catching the rays
550/580EX, everything else is wasted $$ to me. The 550 was the top flash when I got mine and I couldn't "afford" it at the time... I got it anyway and have found no situation it can be out done in without serious multi flash setups. It will add a bit of fill at a good distance and if you go TELEPHOTO(500F4) you can add a flash extender with ease ;wink:

Thanks Paulnj, sounds like this unit will be more than adequate for my needs, i hope to get another lense later in the year but no more than 400mm probably, will i still need a flash extender with this?
Il be checking on prices etc for this unit.

Re: catching the rays
I don't even own an extender for my canon gear, but used one with my nikon gear with 500/800mm at times. All it does is throw your flash farther by concentrating it with a fresnel lens held with brackets infront of your flash.

Re: catching the rays
580EX definitely, 24-105mm zoom and works out to 50m at night on full power.
I haven't needed an extender yet.

Yes, congrats Bev! You deserve it with all the hard work you've been putting in to give us (ok maybe some for yourself too ) those wonderful images.

Re: catching the rays
Well like I said in the other thread...
Reguardless of how common and used to humans, A good image is a good image!!!!
Well deserved IMHO. I ponder my choice for the whole week, so my choices are never on a whim

Re: catching the rays
I like the second two images better, the birds stand out in much clearer contrast, I thinkk cropping the first two to bring the bird front and center would help. Nice series though.
