I took this picture sunday, I had just left a spot where I had been taking pictures for a few hours and was on my way to another when I spotted this guy out in a field doing shall we say some "Paper Work". Well by the time I stopped the car and got my camera out it was finished with its business so I took a quick shot thinking it would be gone in no time. To my surprise it didn't run right off so I lowered the monopod and snapped a few more shots then it did run off. At my first stop I saw a Bobcat but it didn't pose nice for me like this guy and I didn't even get to point the camera its way before it vanished.

I have to admit that I am sometimes too lazy to stop the truck when I see something interesting as I assume that the subject will flee by the time I get my camera ready. I will think of your story the next time I come across something.

I was on my way in between a few places I go to take pictures so the camera was sitting on the front seat ready to go except for the monopod being at its shortest length. I have a point and shoot I keep in the glove box for times I'm not out with my camera gear but I haven't used it for any photos yet. It isn't much of a camera so I would be limited to what I could get with it. But if Bigfoot jumps out in front of my car I'll have something.

Coyotes are quite common in NJ, but they are very hard to see!! Nice find on both the coyote and that AWAESOME bobcat sighting!

WHERE did you see a bobcat???

I was out hunting the Yellow-winged and the Chat again. If you are heading up Rt 560 out of Layton toward the Dingmans Bridge you make the right turn after the National Park sign. Go down that road a mile or so and there is a left turn. I've been parking at the intersection and walking the area. I was down the road a way taking shots of a couple of Chestnut -sided Warblers when I turned to look behind me and saw the Bobcat running down the side of the road then vanish into some thick brush. Had I not turned at that moment I would have never knew it was there.

Yellow , Gold just about the same. I was out there again today on my way home from the golf course. Didn't see the Golden but I did get a look at the Chat. I haven't looked to see if any of the shots are usable. While I was taking pictures a Park Ranger came by and we talked a few minutes, he said he's been working there for 15 years and has only seen a Bobcat twice.
