    Tidepool starfish

I haven't ever seen these (alive) around FL, at least not on the east coast. This was taken on the Oregon coast at low tide. I thought it was pretty neat.

    Sure that's alive.

Nice capture, but alittle more DOF might have made it even better?

    Re: Tidepool starfish

Nice image, Kristin. Too bad they aren't abundant on the east coast.

I LOVE all water (well maybe not the polluted kind) and I would probably be in it all the time if I was within 100 miles from shore. Sigh.

Do you have any more of wildlife in/near/around/over the ocean?

Thanks guys I agree a little more DOF probably would have been better, and I was hoping for a better angle- but as it was I was precariously perched on top of the rocks above it, and the tide was coming in!

I do have a couple more fun ocean wildlife shots to share from the west coast. Strangely enough, I don't have much to share from around here. Maybe I should make a more concerted effort to get out there and photo our resident dolphin pods!

Here's one of my favorites- the harbor seals are everywhere along the OR coast. I did crop this in somewhat- I was probably a couple hundred yards away with my 70-200mm.

Here are a couple from our whale watching trip. The people in the boat were scientific researchers collecting samples from the orcas. I couldn't believe how close the whales would get to their boat! We, of course, had to stay farther away, but were lucky that the whales decided to swim toward us a couple of times. As before, these are cropped- I wasn't really this close! LOL
