Kodak DX6490 Digital Camera

Have had problems with pictures being blurred with this camera and need some help with finding a solution to the problem. Is there anyone out there that can help me. Thanks, Errol

Errol - There can be several possibilities. The problem is that your shutter speed is slow enough where either your subject's movements are blurring the shot, or you can't hold the camera still enough when you fire the shutter. The later is why photogs use tripods. In general, the camera makers should program the camera so it uses a fast enough shutter for average situations. But on some of the less expensive digital cameras, they don't do that very well.

As a workaround, if your cam has a film speed adjustment, like 100, 200, or 400, trying setting it to a higher number. If it wants to fire flash, don't disable it because it will try to use a slower shutter speed to compensate - perhaps blurring your shot (without a tripod). If all this fails, it might be time to get a better camera. Sucks to hear that but unfortunatley there are a lot of poor producst out there in the digital freenzy...

When we first got our point and shoot dig camera (fuji finepix) I was used to shooting film on an A1. We used to get blurry photos all the time.

On our camera we noticed that even after the camera shutter noise the camera wasn't actually done taking the picture. So what was happening was we would move the camera after the noise and it was still trying to capture the scene,

Hold the camera real still, tuck you elbows into your waist, slowly press the shutter, and wait a second after you here the noise.

We still get blurry pictures in low light without a tripod due to either the subject moving or we move ourselves. Movement on either end while the shutter is open will result in soft to blurry images.
