band photos

Thought I would share these on critique forum. This was my favorite shot of the night. Your critique is welcome. You can see more photos on this thread over at viewfinder: http://forums.photographyreview.com/...ad.php?t=19161

Re: band photos

Sweet shots! I usually don't care to have that many trails but it can be appropriate as a way to express the feeling of the music. I think it works in this instance very nicely. Also checked out the view finder thread more great stuff there! Thanks for sharing. What was the name of the band? (My apologies for not reading the VF thread if it's mentioned there, I just skimmed to the pics.)

Re: band photos

CL, I believe the band was Flogging Molly's (sp?).

Ray,

I love this picture minus the bottom right with the amp (?). I think if you crop it out on the bottom you still keep the main shot and add to it greatly IMO. Regardless, I loved all your shots in VF and still love this one.

Well done,

Jared

Re: band photos

Hi C.L.

Thanks for the comments! This was actually the bassist for Rolling Blackouts. The main attract was, as Jared said, Flogging Molly.

Jared, thanks for your comments and the critique. I believe you're right that I have to crop out the amp. I'll repost it tomorrow and you can tell me what you think.

Re: band photos

I like the colors on this one Ray.
The movement is good too, it gives a good feel for what the vibe must have been like and the music as well.
Rock On!

Re: band photos

I like the capture, Ray. It looks impressionistic in regards to aesthetics and brings the feel of the energy of the music and emotion to the viewer. Better with the Amp cloned out

Re: band photos

I like the amp there, myself, I don't think it is all that distracting.
Plus I am not one to "clone" something out.
There is a much better way of doing that, in my humble opnion.
It's called waiting or moving...
Not always feasible, I know. But it will make you a better photographer.

Re: band photos

hehe, I was sitting here scrolling through all the threads looking for my post and asking myself "Where is it?" Then I noticed it was stickied all the way up at the top, lol. Thanks everyone for the comments, and this is very cool that I got the featured photo again!

Tomorrow I hand in the photos to our editor and I think they should get published this week or next. We'll see.

Re: band photos

I really like the composition and color of this photo. However, I feel it loses a bit when the amp is removed. The amp add a bit of color that I don't distracting at all.
You can really feel the energy of the music with the style that you used to shot this. Great job!

Cheers.
