Unhappy Help required with Coolpix P1

    Hi,
    Can any anybody help?
I recently bought the Coolpix P1 (I've previously used a 35mm Point and Shoot camera)
I've seen some of the marvellous pic's produced by the P1 but seem incable of replicating any of the quality and clarity of picture.
I can use it and produce "OK" shots with the "point and shoot" mode bt wuld like to understand and use the scenes mode too. Each time I try, I get blurred pictures with shadows around everything that moves.
Can anybody shed any light on what I'm doing (or not as the case may be) or give me some pointers to good books/tutorials.
I'm an absolute beginner to anything like serious photograhy but would dearly love be able to produce something worth looking at.
Many Thanks in avance - Paul.

Read the manual and change the ISO setting to ISO 200 or greater, and review the camera settings.

Take allot of photos, trying all the settings, and using the LCD to preveiw and/or compose your shots, using the LCD is a must to use the manual focus in micro mode. Make sure to have a spare sets of batteries as the LCD will suck the batteries dead quickly
