Thumbs up Help me with my new Canon Powershot

I am the proud owner of a new Canon Powershot S2 IS. I am trying to get through the manual, which I'm finding is not very well written.
In particular, the only way I can find to use the LCD display is if I have it on the "C" setting on the mode dial, and no other setting. This would be a huge limitation if it is so.
Does any one have experience with these cameras?

Are you sure you toggled the DISP button in the other modes? Try the the 'P' mode and press the DISP to the lower right of the LCD a couple of times. Should turn it back on right away. If not look up the reset sequence (my manuals are at work) and reset the camera. If THAT doesn't work you may need to change batteries or get the camera checked out.

So simple! I did not find that anywhere in the manual. I figured if it automatically displayed in one setting, it would do so in all.
