Thanks Eric. Once I saw the sun peaking through the trees, my goal was to try to get a star burst.

Four hours my a$$ - I bet you spent most of the year waiting for this alignment to occur

Well, you are sort of right. I have been photographing this location for 3 or 4 years now so I was trying to come up with something a little different. I didn't plan for the alignment of the sun, but I did take advantage of it while it was there. Hoping to go back again once we get a light snow.

I love this photo, Mike. This is a well-deserved Featured Photo choice. I also love that sun flare. The whole photo is great but that sun flare ties it all together and really pushes it to the next level. Don't you love it when something you didn't expect or plan for shows up and helps you make a winner photo?

Just so you know, I added a link for this to our Facebook page and I also shared it with our Twitter followers. So it should get a nice little visitor spike today.

    Hi Mike

Great picture I was there last thursday as well and took this picture not nearly as good as yours im trying to learn. Anyway I have been going there since I was a kid my grandparents owned the small farm that is directly to the west. So all we had to do is go up and over the hill and we were there. It used to be much less overgrown on the flat area from the road to the falls. There were cows in there grazing all summer every year so I imagine they kept the growth down.

Thanks for the featured photo and for all the supportive comments. I'm still not done going through all of my photos from this outing yet so you may see more from this location.
