Re: Newbie here...

Try an introduction in the Welcome thread in the Viewfinder forum Also, the Viewfinder forum is the more social forum on the site.

The A380 is a fine camera and will take great images. I found the fastest way to learn was to post my best shot in the Critique forum and ask what was wrong with it (wear your thick skin). Then take the suggestions and try again. If you have specific questions, many here will be glad to help you out. - TF

Re: Newbie here...

Welcome and as OC says, post an intro into the welcome thread in Viewfinder.
The reason I've been here so long is because of the helpful nature of the members.
I learn from questions others ask as much or more than I learn from my own.
Put some pics up in the critique forum,(one at a time), and you'll get positive and negative points on it.

Re: Newbie here...

Its hard to learn if you stick the camera in a dummy mode. Using Shutter and/or Aperture priority will help you to better understand the way a scene is exposed. Thats S and A on your cameras dial. The A380's interface was made specifically for newbies so that should help you grasp the way a metering formula works (Shutter/Aperture/ISO).
