Looking for TIMELAPSE CACULATOR

Hi... I am trying to make some timelapse movies for my youtube channel. My Digital SLR is capable of taking shots at intervals but my maths is terrible and I am having a hard time working out the time between shots i need to make the final video the length I want.

I found a few calculators though Google but I couldn't get them to do what I want.. I was wondering if anyone knew of a timelapse calculator i could use... or if you know the maths for working it out so i can do it myself...

Basically I wish to know this.....

• If I have a target length in time of the video I wish to create
• And I know the final video is running at 25 FPS
• And I know the period of time i want to shoot to make the timelapse from

How many seconds between each shot do I need to set the camera up to take?

Example:

Event takes:- 6 hours
Video runs @:- 25 FPS
Final Video length = 10 Minuets

Time in Seconds Between each photo = ????

Anyway I hope someone can help...

I could be calculating this wrong, but by my way of reckoning if you want 10minutes@25fps that is 10x60x25=15000 frames total. The event is 6 hours which is 6x60x60=21600 to calculate how many seconds for the event. so to calculate the interval simply divide the total event time by teh required number of frames 21600/15000=1.44 seconds between each photo!

Ok... umm

(10x60x25) = (10mins = 600secs = 15000 frames)
(6x60x60) = (6 hours = 360mins = 21600secs) x25 = 540000 frames

So wouldn't it be...

540000 / 15000 = 36frames == 1.44 frames...

hmm that is the same number you got.... I will give this a go...

OH.. i did a test seams to be working... but I totally forgot an extra calculation i need done...

Each Frame.. needs to be on screen for at least 1/2 a second.

So how would I work that out?

You cannot show it at 25 frames per second and have it on screen for 1/2 second. That would be 2 FPS. - TF

Well no... the frame rate of the video file is still 25 frames per second .. the image just needs to be held for "x" frames. Say 0.7 seconds or 0.5 seconds.

Got it. Since you are showing 25 FPS and want it to stay on screen for 1/2 second, you need 13 frames of each (actually will be .52 sec). Divide the number of frames needed from the above calculation by 13. - TF
