True, but that's nature for you. Some days are dull and some are blinding. Last night I heard someone say that with Raw you should shoot slightly underexposed all the time since you could adjust the exposure in your photo editor program to fix underexposure but can't fix blown out highlights.

Never thought of it that way myself, but it's interesting.

I shoot to the right, not the left.

At the left end of the histogram, if you have under-exposed you are down in the noise.
And if you brighten it in post-processing then all you do is recover noise into the image.

RAW doesn't make that any different by magic.
You get perhaps +/- 2 stops of adjustment, without having to bracket.
But you can't break the laws of physics, the noise comes up if you over-lighten the shadows.

Interesting as it may be, I tend to agree with SmartWombat for the reason he stated. And when I shoot with S5, I definitely would rather over-exposed than under given the camera's high dynamic range. The noise that shows up as a result of lightening up the shadows are just too...ugly
