442 miles and well worth it.

On the beautiful day we had yesterday, near 50 degrees, I just had to make one more trip for bald eagles. After this week, they'll have migrated thru. I'm sure glad I went. I shot in raw plus medium jpeg and haven't had the time to download the raw files yet.

Following your link from my thread...

Very cool photos! I've actually never seen the Eagles in Red Wing. I'll need to make time to get down there. Very cool.

Holy crap, Mike - these are terrific! I'd say the trip was worth it and then some.

I was trying to pick my favorite - but they're all great. Looks like the meal was a shad; and a rather big one at that.

Curious, does the DNR have large sections roped off? Or do the eagles move around too much for the roped off areas to have any effect? Or are there no barriers whatsoever?

Re: 442 miles and well worth it.

Thanks everyone, for you kind comments. Gracie, better put it on your calendar for December. I understand Dec., Feb. and March are the best months. Unfortunately, with this warmer weather moving in, they expect the eagles to be moving out, this week.

Loupey, these were taken at a city park, along the Mississippi. There are no ropes anywhere. However, I've been told that there is an area that is posted with no tresspassing signs, due to the area getting close to their nesting area.

Great shots man! I've been waiting for the perfect shot on a nest we have around my area. It's tough getting them but you scored big!

Excellent shots Mike. We have some eagles here all winter, but nothing like on the Mississippi River.

Hmmm. I don't see it. Thanks anyway.
Ahh, now it showed up. That was weird. I even refreshed a couple times, to no avail. For some reason, it came up on yours almost an hour before it showed up on mine.

Also, thanks Paul, Wildwings and Bigcity. I really appreciate the compliments.

I saw it on the home page. It wasn't up in the forums yet when I posted that.
