    Geese

Theres a small family of geese still living on our lake. There are about 3 or 4 of them. Right now I only see 3 but at Thanksgiving there were 4.
2 of them as far as I know (could be all of them) have a broken wing so they wont be going anywhere,
They have been very kind as to be little posers for me and have been so friendly they swim or walk right up to us.

This one is a little blurry in the head. Oh well.

That last shot shows more than a broken wing. Perhaps mauled by a neighborhood dog? It also has what appears to be the end of a fishing line (dark superline like smoke colored fireline) coming out of its bill.

In any case, not a natural end.

    Re: Geese

Snow mobiler, coyote, mountain lion, dog, cruel teens, ..could have been any number of things.
The line I hope is just a thin strip of weed, but in the area where they are is a river flowing from the lake and thats mostly where people fish and there is line everywhere. The lake is frozen over.

I took these about 3 wks ago and she is still doing quite well. even after being dumped on with snow over the last 3wks (30in total)

That looks horrible (not your photo)!

She may be ok but definitely is having a hard time going anywhere far. Will the feather grow back?

    Re: Geese

yeah I doubt shes going to be flying anywhere. The feather, Im not sure if its even gone. I had caught her spread wing as if she was trying to show us her wound but that shot came out bad so this shot is when shes settling down so It may just appear that the feather is gone.
