Does it work/what would you improve?

lol, thats clever. I would probably cut off the transformer part of the bulb. Maybe try a very narrow DOF placed on the flower petals.

I agree that it's clever but I think you can do better! The black background doesnt work for me. Try a beautiful flower background and/or one with a nice cliff and ocean. Also add more flowers or other 'green' props. The flower here is too transparent.

If you would like, I can try cutting it out and pasting it into a few scenes I have as described above.

The original background was more gray because I get lazy about putting up bg lights or getting the bg correct in camera, so it's already clipped. I agree about the flower being too transparent. It's been raining cats and dogs the past few days + freezing at this point so it may be awhile for another try unless I go to a flower shop.

The stem is what bothers me the most. It's a much darker nicer green, but the lights make it a dull neon almost. I will no doubt retry this though, I may take two shots actually, one with flower and bulb off, one with no flower and bulb on. It seems as though most of my headaches were due to the extra light. It's frustrating only thinking of doing that a few days after taking it instead of right then.

If you do make it to the flower shop (or flower isle at the local grocery) it might be kinda cool to use a bunch of flowers arranged so that the bulb acts as a vase. This should introduce more tonal range in the stems as some with then be cast in shadow producing those richer, darker greens scattered through the mix.

I think your on the right track to a very clever and creative photo. I too would take the bottom round part of the bulb out. I like the idea of the bulb acting like a vase. I wonder how that would look using a black lite bulb instead of white. Looking forward to the end result.

One more, done today. Not the same, but similar concept. I don't know which way to improve lighting (better lit bills or hard shadows).
