    Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize
Is this political or just hopeful?

The Peace Prize has been a farce for the longest time. In this case, what has he actually done? Maybe in the future, but now?

Wake me up when he, or other Peace Prize winners, win the Nobel Prize for Physics, Chemistry, Literature, or any of the real awards. They actually mean something.

Be careful with this one. Remember, no political discussion allowed. As soon as this gets the tiniest bit out of hand I'm going to shut it down.

When I first heard about this, my first reaction was "huh?". He certainly has plenty of ideas, but it is hard to argue he has actually accomplished much yet.

Just remember that the Nobel peace prize was handed out by Nobel to distract from the fact that his invention of dynamite killed so many people.

"Distract" probably isn't the right word to use. It's likely more accurate to say he created the prize to make up for what he saw as his negative contribution to the world.

IMO there are others deserving of the award who have put the better part of a lifetime into helping others. I have seen no accomplishments that could be reasonably applied as credit towards a "Peace" prize. Don't get me wrong, I like the man, but this award has not been earned.

After doing a small amount of research on the NPP, there seems to be no set criteria to be nominated or awarded the prize.

I think this is a calculated decsion to put him in further position of weakness on defense and making tough decsions. As many will interpret any aggressive actions of defense as a hypocracy to a peace prize, thus tying our hands more..very wise move on the left,,,

This type of silly nonsense and conspiracy theories is a major reason why political discussions are banned. This thread is, I predict, not long for this world.
