Warbler ID please.

I received a call asking if I'd be interested in getting a shot of a phoebe. Well, I never turn down an op for a new bird photo. :) By the time I got there, this is all I could find. It was very small and wouldn't sit still for more than a second at a time. The closest ID I can come up with from my old books, is a female Northern Parula.

My bet is that it is a pine warbler - although at this angle I can't tell if I'm seeing that second white wing bar. We'll have to wait for the Bird Master to weigh in to make a determination.

Aggrevatingly addictive, eh? Warblers seem to have this ability to know exactly when you have spotted them in your viewfinder and the focus is just about to be achieved.... so that they can fly away or duck under cover :p

But then again, lately just about every songbird I've been stalking lately has been doing that. Always a 1/4 second behind and muttering bad words out loud to myself :D

Boy, ain't that the truth. The funny thing is, while I was looking to see where he went to, I noticed a movement to my right, and there he was, sitting on a branch just 3 feet from my shoulder, looking at me. :rolleyes: It was kinda neat seeing him this close, although too close for a shot.

I'd have to agree. Pine Warbler.

That is a very rare bird and is a kirkland's warbler. I have never seen one myself either!

Thanks, guys. I just noticed the FP. I have now heard Pine, Kirkland's, Female Magnolia and Immature Magnolia. I think I'll just call it a warbler. :D

I stand corrected.. It is indeed a transitional plumage female magnolia.... darn!!
