400 miles and 5 decent images
Re: 400 miles and 5 decent images
well maybe someone will pick up these great shots and pay you 50 bucks a piece so you can break even.
Re: 400 miles and 5 decent images
Nice BE shots there, Mike.
I know how tough it can be for a nature photog once the snows come. Just think close, think small (unless you have vast landscapes nearby), and think common. Try some different and new ideas on common stuff. Who knows, it might just get you hooked on doing it year-around. I like to think most of my subjects are the common and mundane - just shot differently.
Re: 400 miles and 5 decent images
Beautiful eagle shots! I'd have a heck of drive to find those.....
It's -34 this morning with the windchill at -47. I don't think I'll go look for wildlife at all......maybe in June. :)
Re: 400 miles and 5 decent images
Lol 50 bucks each :) At least you came home with something . I haven't seen anything but Chickadees in the past two weeks hehe! I can only take so many photos of those little clowns :) Oh and BTW good series :)
Re: 400 miles and 5 decent images
Well worth the expense in my opinion. Great shots.

Re: 400 miles and 5 decent images
I love the eagle shots! They're beautiful...
Re: 400 miles and 5 decent images
Mike great shots. At least you can drive to photograph this kind of things. Around here in late winter, you can't even do that. All we have are crows, magpies and a few sparrows. With the cold weather we have now, even they have gone for warmer pastures, but being the optimist that I am, I realize Spring is on its way and it is only a couple of months and a lot of other birds will be back or migrating through - can't wait.
Cheers,
WesternGuy

In other words, quit whining? :D Yeah, I guess it could be worse.
Anyway, thanks to all for your comforting words. :)
Re: 400 miles and 5 decent images
Love the eagles and the lone mallard the best. Where did you go to in order to get these shots?
Re: 400 miles and 5 decent images
The swans and trio of mallards were shot along the MN river in the twin cities. The eagles and lone mallard were shot along the Mississippi river near Red Wing, MN.
Re: 400 miles and 5 decent images
That's only a couple hours drive from me.
Re: 400 miles and 5 decent images
All of your shots are wonderful.....

Mike, I'm going back in about a month. We should meet. I think it'd be a blast. It's about 3 1/2 hours to Red Wing, for me.
Thanks BFiredup.
Mike, I just checked and it's 216 miles for you, 15 miles farther than for me.
Re: 400 miles and 5 decent images
That's a little farther than I thought, but still doable. Things are going to be pretty tight for me until after our big trip, but I will keep it in mind. Let me know when you will be going that way,and I'll see if I can make it.
Re: 400 miles and 5 decent images
I'd spend $50 to get eagle images like that!
