First I had to look up the andaman sea. I was pretty sure it wasn't near Greenland.
The great color and light overcomes whatever problem there is with the location of the subject in the frame.

Very well done Herriot and it has a little disturbing feel to it. The suns reflections are very effective on the dark water.

Brian, great compliments coming from you, really appreciate the input, haven't been on the boards much over the past months, just trying to find the time to juggle so many things these days. Am heading out with a tunnel vision lens later today so will see what I manage to come back with.

Frog, glad you like it, agreed, at first I wasn't sure about the composition but in the end I decided that the pro's outweighed the cons.

Tom, thank you, you're right, the fact that the figure appears to be missing half a leg, floating in dark water does bring a suspicious feel with it I feel.

I wish the shutter speed was faster as I do see movement with the swimmer, but that could be by disign? The colors are great.

Congrats on the feature photo!

The highlights make this photo in my opinion.A counterpoint to the dark water and the floater!
The picture has some context and the outdoors quality is illustrated by the reflections. Yes, it does have an ominous or even quixotic quality that draws the viewer back. It almost seems as if there is a swirl to the light under the swimmer. Personally the frame cutting into the swimmer/floater works well with title as it is thus about the water and not just the person. The swimmer finishes the photo both literally in position and figuratively in context.

The glowy highlights are great, and I love the floaty feel.

In general I'm not a fan of Holga shots. I know I'm terrible, but I just can't stand the dark corners that you get on EVERY photo. As for this one, I love it. The reflections off the water are very relaxing, like blurs you would see with half-closed eyes as you float in the water and try to shield your eyes from the sun. That coupled with the darkness and insanely awesome color scheme you've got here makes it even better. Beautiful.

Megan, I was using a standard KODAK ISO 400 120 film,

Freygr, point noted on the shutter speed but this was taken using the fastest option possible on my Holga, remember, this is just a roll of film, a blacked out plastic box, a plastic lens and a lever! Shutter speed is estimated to be about 1/100 sec.
